Advantage II for dogs is for use on both indoor and outdoor dogs and puppies 7 weeks of age or older, weighing more than 3 pounds. If your puppy doesn't yet weigh 3 pounds, speak to your veterinarian about your flea treatment options.
Use your dog's current weight to determine which size is right for them.
If you have a growing puppy that may exceed the product's weight guideline within a couple of months, consider purchasing a smaller pack count.
Be sure to use the entire tube of Advantage II when applying it to your dog. Part the hair on your dog's back between the shoulder blades until the skin is visible. Squeeze the tube to expel the entire contents directly on the skin in 1-4 spots, depending on your dog's weight.
See package insert for additional details.
Advantage II for dogs is a topical flea treatment that spreads over the skin and hair. Advantage II kills through contact, so fleas don't have to bite your dog to die. With oral flea treatments, fleas must bite your dog and ingest the medication before they are killed.
Advantage II for dogs kills fleas within 12 hours of application.
The fleas you see on your pet today are not the same fleas that you initially saw when you applied the treatment. These are new fleas from the environment that have since developed into adults and jumped on your dog. As the weeks go by, these developing stages should run their course and disappear. Be sure to treat your pet's environment, including your home, yard, carpet, bedding, etc.
There is no expiration date required on the packaging by the EPA for Advantage II for dogs. The product should be kept in its original packaging and stored as directed on the label.
Advantage II for dogs contains two active ingredients: imidacloprid, which attacks the flea's nervous system, to paralyze and kill it, and pyriproxyfen, which prevents eggs and larvae from maturing.
