All dogs need to chew. Some even spend hours chewing every day. Chewing accomplishes a number of things for a dog. For young dogs, it's a way to relieve pain that might be caused by incoming teeth. Chewing also keeps dogs' jaws strong, teeth clean, and breath a bit fresher. Dogs that chew regularly on rawhides have less plaque and tartar build-up on teeth.
