Why have my mushrooms already started growing in the bag

It is normal for some growth to begin inside the bag, because the atmosphere is almost where it needs to be for the mushrooms to start growing. Just remove the additional growth (carefully!) and continue with the instructions as directed on the box.

So what is mycelium

The white stuff all over your block is called mycelium! This is what grows the mushrooms. We recommend making your cuts on the bag close to the area with the most colonized mycelium.

Shiitake (Lentinula Edodes) Shiitake mushrooms have a notoriously meaty and velvety texture with a rich buttery flavor profile.	Lion's Mane (Hericium Erinaceus) Lion's Mane mushrooms have a tender + juicy texture and they are mild in flavor, reminiscent of seafood.

Our Mythos

Started by local urban mushroom farmers Andrew "Kobo" Kobayashi and Andrew "Hatty" Hatfield, they wanted to provide the opportunity to enjoy this fun hobby, or gift gourmet mushrooms to that gardener / green thumb friend. Our Kits grow at home and are ready in 10-14 days.
