For Clear Pond to work the pH must be between 6.5 and 8.5. The pH of your pond can be tested using a Blagdon Pond Health Test Kit, incorrect pH can be remedied by using the pH Adjuster range. The pond may contain unusually large lightweight particles which can easily be stirred up by currents in the pond or by larger fish. Clear Pond works by coagulating small particles and is therefore not intended to overcome this problem. The answer in this case is to install a pond filter. Various models are available from Blagdon.

If neither of the above apply and the initial treatment with Clear Pond only partially cleared the water, it is recommended that a second dose be administered the next day. To reassure you that the product is working, we suggest that you carry out a test by adding two drops of Clear Pond to a milk bottle filled with pond water. After a few hours, you should notice that there is a sediment on the bottom of the bottle and clear water.

Why does this happen and how do I prevent it

Cloudy water is caused by tiny particles of waste suspended in your pond water. Whilst cloudy water is unlikely to affect the wellbeing of your fish or plants, it is an eye sore and can affect enjoyment of your pond.

The primary way to resolve cloudy water is to remove excess waste and establish a regular maintenance routine. Regularly treating your pond with a sludge treatment will help to keep waste levels down.

If you keep fish in your pond, it is worth assessing your feeding and stocking levels, as over doing it in either of these areas will lead to larger levels of waste.

If cloudy water is becoming a frustrating and common problem in your pond you could consider using a pond filter which will help to remove excess nutrients and waste products like sludge. A Filter will also create a healthy biological filter in your pond to reduce water quality issues and create a better environment for fish.

Instructions

Shake bottle well
Remove dosage chamber cap and foil seal, squeeze bottle until chamber is filled to the required level
Add 1 x 25ml measure for every 500 litres (110 gallons) of pond water. We recommend adding Clear Pond to a bucket of water and then distribute this evenly over the pond's surface.
Do not overdose as this could cause prolonged brown discolouration.

This is a single dose treatment and is safe to re-dose after 5 days
