Oxybenzone Free
Sun Defense's natural sunscreen formulation is reef safe and complies with local reef protection acts. We provide a formulation that is Oxybenzone free and will not bleach our coral reefs.
The issue with chemical sunscreens (i.e., Oxybenzone) is that instead of reflecting UV rays, they absorb them and convert those UV rays into heat. This is problematic in the sense that coral will absorb chemical sunscreens and the heat process causes the coral to bleach. Mineral sunscreens have been shown to be safe for both coral and marine life.
Each sunscreen wipe is infused with mineral-based sunblock including: Zinc Oxide, Titanium Dioxide, Aloe Vera, and Vitamin E. Our natural sunscreen provides full-spectrum UVA/UVB protection with SPF 30.
Mineral-based sunscreens work by creating a barrier between your skin and the sun. Instead of chemical sunscreens, which allow the skin to absorb UV rays, mineral sunscreens actively repel UV rays before they enter the skin. Our Sun Defense formulation helps you reduce long-term exposure to chemicals.
